Trader Joe's Pumpkin O's Cereal Review

Trader Joe's Pumpkin O's Cereal on kitchen counter

Here's a Trader Joe's fall staple that I can't believe we haven't reviewed here before. Is it just me, or were there a couple of years when we couldn't find them in-store?

In any case, they're baaaaaaaaaack! And today, we review Trader Joe's Pumpkin O's.

Trader Joe's Pumpkin O's Cereal, looking into box from above

Trader Joe's Pumpkin O's cereal is gluten-free and vegan. The package copy reads, "Toasted whole grain cereal with brown rice, oats, and pumpkin." (I added the comma after oats. Trader Joe's copywriters don't believe in the Oxford Comma.)

A 12-ounce box costs $2.99.

Pumpkin is on the list of ingredients, but it's after sea salt, so there's not an overabundance of pumpkin here.

She says (Bridget): Love. Because of the shape, you have to start by comparing them to Cheerios. These are lighter in texture and so much yummier than Cheerios. Pumpkin O's are crisp with a definite pumpkin-cinnamon flavor. I like these for breakfast with Trader Joe's Almond, Cashew, and Macadamia Nut Milk and for a snack that is eaten out of hand, with a few bittersweet chocolate chips mixed in. (Trust me.

I've also been known to sneak a zip-top bag of Pumpkin O's and chocolate chips into the movies for a snack. Don't knock it 'til you've tried it! Adding chocolate chips to cereal was a little something I picked up at a fabulous hotel in Quebec City, and I've never looked back!
Overall rating: 5 out of 5 stars

He says (Jack): These are lighter but also rougher on the outside than some similarly shaped cereals. The pumpkin flavoring is sort of like a glaze, which means that the sweetness of the pumpkin hits hard on the first bite. However, a pleasant spiciness comes through later on. Although I'm typically not a pumpkin-crazy person, I could make an exception for these.
Overall rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Will we buy these again? Year after year after year!
