Let's back things up to last summer when my sister texted asking if I'd tried the Trader Joe's Supergoop!® Unseen Sunscreen dupe. (She lives where there is no Trader Joe's, sadly. Dear TJ's, Midland, TX needs you).
Anyhoo...by the time I checked, I didn't see anything like that. You know how Trader Joe's is - you fall in love with something, and then it's gone. Joe is a heartbreaker.
Fast forward to this summer, when a reader asked if we'd reviewed "Trader Joe's dupe for Supergoop!® Unseen Sunscreen." I practically ran to the store. There, I found Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen.

Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen comes in a peach-colored box, so that threw me off at first. There is a tube of sunscreen inside. I was searching the shelf for a tube of sunscreen. It's a Broad Spectrum SFP 40 sunscreen that costs $8.99.
The description reads, "oil free...invisible gel formula...fragrance free...water + sweat resistant (40 minutes)."
Supergoop!® Unseen Sunscreen is also a Broad Spectrum SFP 40 that is water + sweat resistant (40 minutes). From their description, "Bonus: It doubles as a makeup-gripping primer!"
Both Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen and Supergoop!® Unseen Sunscreen contain the active ingredients Avobenzone (both at 3%), Homosalate (TJs 12%, SG 8%), Octisalate (both at 5%), Octocrylene (TJs 6%, SG 4%).
Inactive ingredients are strikingly similar, too, but not identical.
Is Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen a DUPE for Supergoop!® Unseen Sunscreen?
REVIEW (Bridget): I am not a sunscreen lover. I was a teen in the 1980s; it's against our religion. So, over the past few years, I've been using the sunscreen my dermatologist recommends. And it was good. But this is SO MUCH BETTER. The consistency is that of a light, creamy gel. Out of the tube, it looks a little like frosted glass; it vanishes in an instant! You can see from my photos that...you CAN'T see it. While invisible, it leaves my skin with a velvety but not dry texture. My makeup does, in fact, go on more smoothly. What's more? It doesn't pill! That's even after applying my moisturizer plus the sunscreen on top. It is completely unscented and has absolutely zero sparkle! Does it feel like Supergoop!® Unseen Sunscreen? YES, IT DOES.
Let's talk about price, shall we? For 1.7 ounces, Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen costs $8.99. Supergoop!® Unseen Sunscreen costs $38.00 for the same size tube. *gulp*
Overall rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Will I buy Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen again?
Not only will I buy it again, but I will be STOCKING UP in case it goes away!
Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen: An excellent dupe for Supergoop!® Unseen Sunscreen and a stellar sunscreen and makeup primer overall.
Dear Trader Joe's, please make a dupe for the BODY version! Love, Bridget
