Our new reviewers are a brother and sister team. They're exceptional writers, extremely creative, and, of course, Trader Joe's devotees. Mark and I are a little blown away by their first review.

The package copy describes the bar as "offering an intriguing interplay of flavors and textures..." The bar promises a milk chocolate exterior with a "rich, velvety dark chocolate center."
Trader Joe's Organic Milk Chocolate Truffle Bar Review
He says (brother N, age 11): This truffle bar is a superbly executed milk chocolate bar, but the rest of the treat fell short. There is an audible snapping sound when you break the bar into smaller pieces (A good sign for a chocolate bar), and the delicacy of the milk chocolate will melt in your mouth. When I first saw the package, I was excited that there was going to be a dark chocolate center, and I was dismayed when I found that not to be true! Yes, there is a small amount of dark chocolate, but it is such an insignificant amount that it is absorbed into the flavor of the milk chocolate and does not stand out. I have always enjoyed milk chocolate more than dark chocolate, but in the end, this is just a regular milk chocolate bar. A very good milk chocolate bar, but a bar nonetheless. If Trader Joe's had watered down the descriptions and the exclamations about the dark chocolate inside, this would have been a very different experience! Overall, I enjoyed the treat but was less impressed by the advertising.
Overall rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
She says (sister B, age 8): This milk chocolate bar, in most circumstances, was great! Only, if you look at the package carefully, you'll find that there is supposed to be a surprise of dark chocolate in the middle. Yes, there is: You might be able to see how the soft, rich brown of the milk chocolate darkens when it reaches the center, but the flavor of the milk chocolate is overpowering. If you are a dark chocolate lover, this bar's taste is mainly the sweet, caramelized taste of milk chocolate. (The only time you taste the dark chocolate is the final aftertaste. Then too, the milk chocolate is the main flavor of this sweet snack!)
Overall rating: 4 of 5 stars
Would we buy this bar again?
(N): I would definitely buy this if I wanted to add a splash of milk chocolate to a dessert, but I wouldn't get my hopes up if I was going to be experimenting with the rich flavor of dark chocolate.
