Hey Howdy Hey! Today, we (Mark, Bridget, and Jack) are reviewing TJ's Almond Butter Filled Pretzel Nuggets.
We're thinking ahead to spring break road trip season, so it's a great time to stock up on Trader Joe's snacks for the car. I love both almond butter and pretzels (see: Espresso Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies or Cookie Dough Pretzels), so I was excited to give these a try for our review.
A 12-ounce bag of Almond Butter Filled Pretzel Nuggets cost $4.49.

Trader Joe's descriptions reads, "crunchy pretzel nuggets, whose golden exterior is generously crusted with rock salt. Inside, it’s an almond butter abondanza. Really. More than 35% of the recipe here is almond butter..."
Abbondanza means abundance in Italian. Yes, I had to look it up.
Trader Joe's Almond Butter Filled Pretzel Nuggets review
She says (Bridget): It's a no from me, dawg. Gosh, I hate to say it, but I did not enjoy these. As much as I love a salty pretzel, both the salt and the pretzel flavors completely overpower the almond butter. Peanut butter pretzels are probably a classic because peanut butter can hold its own with a strong pretzel flavor. These won't be making my cut for road trip snacks, unfortunately. Give me the Almond Butter Almonds instead! I still love you, almond butter and pretzels! Don't get married; you're better off as just friends.
Overall rating: 2 of 5 stars
He says (Jack): As I guess they should be, these are identical to the usual peanut-butter-filled variety, save for the filling. However, given how much pretzel there is, it's hard to discern much about the almond butter filling at all. In fact, like the overall thing, it tastes almost identical to peanut butter--you can perceive a very slight sweetness due to the almond butter, which differentiates it from the peanut butter variety. I don't really think this very slight difference is worth it, though...unless, of course, you'd rather have almond butter, then it's just as good as the regular peanut butter! :)
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 stars
He says (Mark): I grew up eating lots of pretzels, then they kinda fell off my radar until after college. TJ’s hit a home run with these! The amount of almond butter filling and the salt on the shell is just right. They are good solo or with an adult beverage. I didn’t bother reviewing the serving size but was satisfied with at least 5. Enjoy!
Overall rating: 5 of 5 stars
Oh my! I found these reviews super interesting because Mark does NOT like almond butter. Hmmm... Maybe the more you like the flavor of almond butter, the less you enjoy these?
Would we buy these again? I doubt it.
