You might not expect to find an apple tarte in the freezer section, but that's exactly where this one lives!
A petite dessert, this one serves 4. The size might be perfect for a small fall dinner or Thanksgiving or a fun addition to a Thanksgiving dessert table. Let's test it out...

Here's the pre-baked tarte with my kitchen ruler for perspective.
Trader Joe's Rustic Apple Tarte costs 4.99. Described on the package as "...made the old-fashioned way using Nothern Spy apples...blended with cream cheese, cinnamon, and sugar." The crust of the tarte is folded rather than formed in a pan.
Apple pie and tart lovers rejoice! And bake! Apple recipes to make at home:
- skillet apple pie biscuits (cookies and cups)
- dad's upside-down apple pie (bake at 350)
- apple pear praline pie (completely delicious)
- apple cream cheese bundt cake (baked by rachel)
Trader Joe's Rustic Apple Tarte Review
He (Mark) says: If someone told me this was an award-winning entry from a dessert contest, I would believe it. A superb balance of crust and contents. The apple and hint of cinnamon combined with the crust's texture make this a winner. Even re-heated in the microwave (one slice for 30 seconds at 60% power) on day two, this treat shines. I would buy this again, and again and…well, you get the picture.

She (Bridget) says: As is typical of my Trader Joe's freezer-to-oven items, this one took much longer to bake. As in, 10 minutes longer. While the crust might not pass a Paul Hollywood inspection for a crisp bottom, the crust does hold up despite being on the soft side. The filling is surprisingly creamy (thank you, cream cheese!) and slightly gooey in a good way! The crunchy sliced almonds and coarse sugar on top are a delightful contrast in textures. So, SO good!

Will I buy it again? Big YES.
