Pumpkin season continues! Yay! (We do love some pumpkin!)
Our review today is of Trader Joe's Pumpkin Cheesecake Croissants. You'll find them in the freezer section. The croissants come in a 2-pack and cost $3.99 per box.
You might notice that these really look more like cream cheese danish. They're square and flat with the filling dolloped in the center like a danish.
Each pastry comes individually wrapped inside the box. These bake in the oven from frozen with no thawing.
Trader Joe's Pumpkin Cheesecake Croissants Review
He (Mark) says: This treat (or breakfast companion) lives up to its name. A good-sized serving to go with coffee or after a meal as a dessert. This selection has a very generous portion of the pumpkin cheesecake filling. A bit too much filling for my liking, but better than too little. The filling has a great balance of pumpkin flavor and wasn't too sweet despite being cheesecake inspired. The pastry tastes remarkably fresh for being baked from frozen.
Overall rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
She (Bridget) says: So much to love...and maybe too much. I am both a cream cheese danish lover and a huge fan of almost any pumpkin baked good. Oh, did I mention croissants? I luuuurve croissants. In other words, this is right up my alley. The croissant base is flakey, buttery, and lovely. The pumpkin cheesecake filling is super creamy and full of pumpkin and warm spice flavor. BUT there's just too much filling. I know that sounds crazy, but I think it would be perfect with about half the amount. I guess more pumpkin spice isn't always better.
Overall rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
Would I buy these again? No, and it's too bad. I bought three boxes because I was just so sure we would love them!
Trader Joe's Pumpkin Cheesecake Croissants: Double 3.5 star reviews. So, above average but not our favorite.
