It's September, and the pumpkin goodness at Trader Joe's has just started rolling in. I popped into the store yesterday and put on my "noticing glasses." I spied about six-ish fall-themed goodies, including this pumpkin body butter. This week might be when fall hits the stores in earnest.
Today, I'm reviewing Trader Joe's Pumpkin Body Butter. I'm leaving the boys out of this review as I don't know that they'd have any idea of what to expect from a body butter. (Or if they should eat it.)

Before getting into the review section, I will say that based on past experience, if you want to try this, you'd better grab a tub as soon as you see it. Every year, I spy it in early September and think, "It's too early. I'll buy that in October." And poof, they're gone forever (or until next fall). Curious? Buy one now!
An 8-ounce tub of Trader Joe's Pumpkin Body Butter costs $4.99. The copy on the label reads, "Luxurious body butter made with Coconut Oil, Shea Butter & Pumpkin Seed Oil." Note that the butter doesn't have pumpkin in it, just pumpkin seed oil.
Several ingredients on the label grabbed my attention, such as orange peel, rosemary, lemongrass, and ginger extracts. There's also glycerin, shea butter, seed and coconut oils, and aloe for moisture. While the only pumpkin in the body butter is pumpkin seed extract, "fragrance" is listed in the ingredients which may account for the pumpkin spice aroma.
Trader Joe's Pumpkin Body Butter Review
REVIEW (Bridget): I was so happy to get my hands on this pumpkin body butter this year. Pure white, this looks like a lotion until you swipe a finger across and realize this is actually a thick, creamy body butter. As the label says, it does feel luxurious. My skin feels ultra moisturized, and it lasts for quite some time...unlike some lotions that seem to disappear after a few minutes. The scent is heavenly without being heavy. This moisturizes as well as any body butter I've purchased from Target, Ulta, or Sephora - at a fraction of the price! Although it's been a few years since I've eaten it, I was immediately reminded of the scent of Trader Joe's pumpkin caramel kringle. Lightly spicy but also fresh, this works really well with the perfume I'm currently wearing. I could see how it might clash a little with a straight-up floral fragrance. While I'm wearing it, I feel like I'm wrapped in an autumn-spiced wispy cloud. Trader Joe's, how about a purse-sized hand cream???
Overall rating: 5 of 5 stars
Would I buy it again? Most definitely! This would also make a great gift!
